The Janaki Temple is situated in the heart of the Janakpur city. It is birth place of the hindu Goddess Janaki also known as Sita. It is also known as Naulakha Mandir because it costs nine lakh rupees local currency to complete the temple .It was built by the queen Vrisha Bhanu of Tikamgarh. The temple is constructed in the area of 4,860 sq. feet in a mixed style of rajput and islamic domes which is a three storey building with sixty rooms and have a unique fort like appearance from outside the temple area  . According to legends, King Janak ruled this area called as mithila desh whose daughter Goddess Janaki and Lord Rama's marriage ceremony happened at the side of the temple which is known as Bibah Mandap situated at  the left side of the temple.

Every year thousands of pilgrims from Nepal, India and other countries visit Janaki Temple, specially on the occasion of Vivah Panchami, in which lord Rama and Goddess Sita was believed to be married thousands of pilgrims come here to worshiop Ram and Sita from different parts of the country and outside the country. In this day we can see thousands of people in Janakpur which makes even difficult to put foot steps on the ground. Other occasions like Ram navami and Dashain are also center of attraction of Janaki temple and is of great importance.

We can vist museum located at the back of the inner temple which contains ancient jewellery and clothes used by Goddess Janaki.We can also enjoy the electronic museum which describe the life of the Goddess Janaki from birth to marriage ceremony located above the historical museum.
